This site is dedicated to the memory of Charles L. Salter, and the generations of Salter's who tilled the Iowa land before us!

Salter Farms is a progressive family farm located in western Iowa . We operate land from near Missouri Valley , Iowa to near Whiting, Iowa . As farming has changed we have as well. From our father and mother living on 95 acres raising 3 children, to 13,000 acres spread out over 50 miles.

We strive to be good stewards of the land we are entrusted with. Aggressive use of drainage, and irrigation, are one of our strong points.  Precision soil testing and variable rate application of soil nutrients have helped our production capabilities, as well as, enhanced the fertility of the land.

We are intent on incorporating the latest technology as soon as possible. From the IHC TD9 our father used in 1955, to the tracked tractors we use today.  We have been yield mapping since 1995, application maps sense 1998. We have started to use Beeline navigation in several pieces of equipment for tillage, planting and fertilizer application. On the horizon I hope to remotely monitor center pivots and grain storage over a wireless network.

As we continue to move on forward in this ever changing business, we hope to keep our core values intact.
